Last week, former undocumented employees of various Trump businesses who bravely came forward about the hypocrisy of Trump and his administration, penned a letter to request a meeting with the President to discuss immigration reform.

In response, President Trump continues to deny any knowledge of his organizations hiring practices responding to NBC’s Kelly O’Donnell, “I don’t know because I don’t run it,” also adding, “Probably every club in the United States has that because it seems to be, from what I understand, a way that people did business.”

As Paul Waldman writes for the Washington Post:

President Trump would like you to know that though he is one of the world’s great businessmen and is possessed, in his own words, of a “very, very large brain,” he cannot be held responsible for employment practices at the clubs he owns because he has no idea what goes on there…Of course, the truth is that Trump absolutely did business this way. Not only has The Post extensively documented that multiple clubs he owns have employed undocumented immigrants for years, similar practices have been a feature of his businesses since early in his career.

As the White House considers how to respond to press inquiries, CNN will air a special report taking a deep dive into the work conditions that undocumented immigrants face in the U.S. on Friday at 10 pm ET.

Meanwhile, Trump threatens to crack down on undocumented immigrants and the coverage of his hypocrisy and extensive practice of hiring undocumented workers is garnering nationwide coverage.

Below, we excerpt some of the latest coverage.

The New York Times: ‘I Don’t Run It’: Trump Responds to Reports of Undocumented Workers at His Properties

After months of silence, President Trump responded on Friday to reports that the Trump Organization has employed dozens of undocumented immigrants by saying that he doesn’t know whether the organization does or not. …

Many undocumented workers at other Trump properties, including resorts in Philadelphia, Westchester County, N.Y., and Jupiter, Fla., have come forward since then and said they were also employed using phony Social Security numbers and green cards.

The Washington Post: Trump’s undocumented former employees want to be spared deportation. So they’ve asked the president for a meeting.

More than 20 undocumented workers previously employed by President Trump’s company have requested a meeting with their former boss to discuss how to reform the country’s immigration system and to ask for protection from deportation.

The Wednesday letter to the White House — from former groundskeepers, maids and kitchen staff at the Trump Organization’s golf courses — also asks the president to recall their years of service and “do the right thing” for them and others in the country unlawfully.

Time: Immigrant Workers Fired From President Trump’s Golf Clubs Seeking White House Meeting To Avoid Deportation

A group of immigrant workers fired from President Donald Trump’s golf clubs say they want to meet with him at the White House to make the case that they should not be deported.

The 21 maids, groundskeepers and other workers fired earlier this year from five of Trump’s clubs asked their former employer in a letter this week to remember all their hard work and give them a chance to make their case in person why they should stay in the country.

The Legal Examiner: Former Undocumented Workers Expose Trump’s Hypocrisy on Immigration

While Trump was spreading lies about immigrants and ripping children away from their parents, he was profiting from undocumented immigrants who were cleaning his home, washing his clothes, and cooking meals for his family and friends. That is until they became a political inconvenience.

Amid a partial government shutdown earlier this year, the media started reporting that Trump’s properties have been relying on labor from undocumented immigrants. Shortly after that, around a dozen people were fired, despite working years at one of Trump’s golf clubs. Others were fired after speaking out about their experiences working at the clubs. Why?

ThinkProgress: After letter from former undocumented employees, Trump feigns ignorance

Amid the ongoing immigration crisis in the U.S., President Donald Trump claimed this week that he “didn’t know” that his own properties had hired numerous undocumented migrants as long-time employees.

Asked specifically about undocumented employees at Trump’s numerous golf clubs, Trump pleaded ignorance to The New York Times on Friday.

…Despite Trump’s claims, many of the fired employees, who included maids and groundskeepers, claimed the Trump Organization knew for years about their legal status, but only fired them within the past several months.
