The exhibition is free and open to the public.
Opening Reception on September 18, 2014- 5PM-8PM
Artist Talk on September 25, 2014- 6:30PM-8PM
Although Tetteh was born in Los Angeles, California and has lived in New York City for the past twenty four years, he still derives inspiration from Ghana where he spent seventeen years of his life.
The following is an excerpt from his current Artist Statement, ” Ghana’s rich tapestry of of fabrics and motifs shaped my sense of aesthetics.”
Some unique aspects of Tetteh’s work include sketching and painting with both hands simultaneously, an improvisational practice that usually generates symmetrical images. He also constantly pursues precision when making his geometric sculpture, preferring the use of a mitre saw to sophisticated computer numerical control machines such as laser cutters.
