John White, the father wrongfully convicted after he protected his home on Long Island from a mob of white teenagers will be joined by Michael Greys of 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care at CEMOTAP’s March 27th 2P.M. forum.
Together they will provide the latest information on John White’s appeal. Their topic will be “Justice Denied.”
The Black community was outraged when White was given a two-to-four year sentence for accidentally shooting 17 year old Daniel Cicciaro a white teenager who was attempting to force his way into the White’s home to attack his son.
When White armed himself and stepped outside his door, Cicciaro wrestled with him causing the gun to discharge and injure him fatally. The unfortunate accident happened on August 9, 2006, when the mob of white teens were attempting to enter the home because they wrongly thought that his son had made sexual threats to a white woman.
White who is out on $200,000 bail has never had a brush with the law and is an outstanding citizen with an unblemished role as a successful family man. White who was defending his home from the mob has said, “If John White can’t defend his home, then who can? I didn’t go out there with the intent to do anybody harm.” Many in the Black community believe that if John White had been a white man defending his home against unlawful intrusion by a Black mob of teenagers, there would have been no conviction.
CEMOTAP is urging the community to come out and join the ground swell of support for having White’s conviction overturned.
